Craig Truen

President

After Graduating from Adelphi University, Garden City, NY, Mr. Truen began working as a Sales Agent for a Commercial Mortgage Brokerage firm in 1985. Gaining experience and hands on knowledge of both Originating and Underwriting Mortgage Loans for Residential and Commercial Properties it gave Mr. Truen his firm foundation on the road to growth and success in the finance world.

By mid-year 1987, Mr. Truen was ready to allow his entrepreneurial mindset to take over. Forming Truen Associates, a brokerage specializing in Commercial and Residential Loans, was the calling he was preparing for. Quickly seeing a need within the community for financing, he concentrated on commercial and mixed-use properties beginning in smaller loan sizes and ultimately turning his concentration to the larger more difficult financing structures.

In 1992 the aftermath of the collapse of the real estate markets gave way to Mr. Truen to see other opportunities to help his community and aligned him with more financing capabilities by partnering with wealthy real estate entrepreneurs in the aspirations to obtain financing for distressed properties throughout the NY metropolitan area. In helping the real estate market to rebound, Truen Associates focused more and more on the financing of large commercial properties such as underlying cooperatives, office buildings, shopping centers, multi-family apartment structures, storage facilities and construction and land development projects.

With the emergence of a necessity for short term bridge financing on commercial properties needing to close expeditiously came the formation of Haryn Capital Corp. In 1995, Mr. Truen created this wholly owned subsidiary for the purpose of providing that short-term capital and since its inception he has funded over $200million in short term loans through Haryn Capital.

March of 2004 brought to life the transformation and completion of Truen Associates. With the addition of John Michaels as a full partner, Truen & Michaels Associates was born. Since 2004 Truen & Michaels has funded over 1 billion dollars in commercial mortgage loans through the development of strong relationships with multiple lenders, hedge funds, life insurance companies, private equity managers and REITs. These relationships gave them a cutting edge on obtaining the most competitive rates and terms available in today’s financial world. John Michaels

President

John Michaels has over 25 years of experience in real estate financing as a banker and broker, a combination which has given him vast insight into what Lending Institutions require in a borrower. In July 1990 soon after graduating from Hofstra University with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Mr. Michaels obtained a loan operations job in a start-up Bank called Interbank of New York.

Mr. Michaels quickly moved up the ranks with promotions annually and took over Interbank’s real estate department in 1994. During his tenure of over 13 years at Interbank of New York, John’s loan portfolio grew to be the largest asset of the Bank.

John was part of Interbank’s Credit and Management Committee, and was also responsible for the underwriting, lending policies, pricing strategies and the establishment and maintenance of new and existing relationships with real estate investors and brokers. In 2001 he became the Senior Vice President of interbank and at same time going to school at night and obtaining an MBA with Honors from St. John’s University, Queens, NY.

In 2004, Mr. Michaels partnered with Craig Truen of Truen Associates to form Truen & Michaels & Associates. Since then, in his 10-year tenure with Mr. Truen, he has funded close to $500,000,000 dollars in real estate transactions ranging from $100,000 to $500,000,000. Mr. Michaels throughout his career has come across every type of commercial property and transaction no matter how unique.

Mr. Michaels is hands on with all of his clients and takes pride in getting the client the best rate that’s available in the market for that property. Mr. Michaels has a reputation for providing the Lender with the most comprehensive loan package and thus making the deal close faster.

Greg Michaels

Marketing Manager

Greg has been with Truen & Michaels for over 4 years and continues to leverage his social media and marketing skills to garner new clients. In an ever-changing market, he has put forth a strong effort to solidify fresh contacts that have led to closing deals. Along with his two degrees he has also brought his expertise in writing to create content to further the company’s name in specific media outlets.

Sandra Nazaro

Director of Operations

Sandra has been a part of Truen & Michaels for over 4 years and has become the backbone of the business. Sandra joined Truen & Michaels with over 10 years of experience in the banking space, and 5 years as a Consumer lending processor. Her spot-on style and professionalism are a testament what she brings to the company. In addition, Sandra has also taught classes as a Sales Trainer, teaching other’s the art of the sale.
